As the popularity of CBD continues to grow, it's only natural that pet owners would want to share the benefits of this compound with their furry friends. However, it's important to understand the recommended dosages and potential benefits of giving CBD to your pets.
While more research is needed, there are many studies that have already shown that CBD may offer some amazing benefits for your pets. Here are some of the potential benefits of CBD for pets:
It's important to note that these are potential benefits and more research is needed to fully understand the effects of CBD on pets. As always, it's important to consult with your veterinarian before giving CBD to your pet.
The appropriate dosage of CBD for pets can vary depending on a number of factors, including the size and weight of the animal, as well as the specific condition being treated. A general rule of thumb is to start with a very low dose of CBD and gradually increase it until you achieve the desired effects. The recommended starting dose is usually 0.25 mg of CBD per pound of bodyÂ
- Under 15 pounds: 1-5mg (5mg =10% of a full dropper of our CBD Oil)
- 15-30 pounds: 5-10mg (10mg=20% of a full dropper of our CBD Oil)
- 30-60 pounds: 10-20mg (20mg=40% of a full dropper of our CBD Oil)Â
- Over 60 pounds: 20-30mg (30mg=60% of a full dropper of our CBD Oil)Â
It's important to start with a low dose and gradually increase until the desired effects are achieved. It's also important to note that these are general guidelines and dosages may vary based on the animal's individual needs and the strength of the CBD product.
We recommend using our Cold-Pressed CBD Oil on your furry friends. There are a few reasons behind this recommendation. The first reason is due to our extraction method of cold-pressing instead of using liquid solvents like butane, CO2 & ethanol. Animals are extremely sensitive to the ingestion of solvents which is why you should never leave any alcoholic beverages laying around the house unattended. Ethanol Toxicosis is extremely common when pets accidentally ingest their owner’s alcoholic beverages. So what does this have to do with CBD? A 2015 study in the Journal of Toxicological Sciences found that cannabis concentrates may contain toxic solvents that remain as residue from a solvent-based manufacturing process. More than 80 percent of the cannabis concentrates tested during the study were found to contain residual solvents, including isopentane, butane, heptane, propane and others.
"More than 80 percent of the cannabis concentrates tested during the study were found to contain residual solvents, including isopentane, butane, heptane, propane and others."
Our extraction process on our farm in Colorado is solventless and uses a proprietary cold-press extraction. This will keep your pets safe from any sort of solvent contamination. Additionally, our CBD oil comes with a graduated cylinder on it so that you can easily measure out and provide your pet with the correct dose of CBD.
According to a recent study by the National Animal Supplement Council (NASC), cannabidiol products were "well-tolerated" in healthy dogs. The study also found that the dogs had no adverse effects, such as changes in appetite, vomiting, or diarrhea and that these substances do not pose significant risk to dogs in long-term use. It's important to note that while CBD is generally considered safe for pets, there can be potential side effects, particularly at higher doses. These can include dry mouth, lowered blood pressure, and drowsiness.
In conclusion, CBD can be a safe and effective way to improve the health and wellbeing of your furry friends. Starting with a low dose and gradually increasing can help you achieve the desired effects. With potential benefits including reduced anxiety, pain relief, and anti-inflammatory properties, CBD may be a valuable addition to your pet's wellness routine.
